Step-by-Step Instructions *
1. Prepare rice according to package or appliance directions 2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add sesame oil 3. Add ground beef to hot skillet and brown completely. Drain if necessary. 4. While ground beef is cooking prepare sauce by adding garlic, soy/tamari, ginger, brown sugar and sriracha. Stir well to combine. 5. Add sauce mix to cooked ground beef and stir to combine 6. Add carrots (and red peppers if using), cook for about 2 minutes until slightly softened. 7. Serve on rice with chopped green onions, sesame seeds, &/or red pepper flakes (or any desired combination)
Additional Notes
I usually double the sauce for us when using 1.5+ lbs ground beef (not going to be super saucy either way). I add about 1 tsp of red pepper flakes to the sauce (vs garnish) I only use 85% or higher ground beef, usually 90 or 93 I have made this with the addition of slivered red peppers which is also very good and bulks it up if using less beef I have forgotten to use the sesame oil while browning the beef before and it DOES make a difference. It infuses flavor. If you use higher fat ground beef I would drain it a couple times then add the oil and brown it completely.
